The Shape of Human Experience

A collection exploring the emotional landscapes of being human.

Luke was awarded Best in Show in 2026. The painting's exploration of strength, vulnerability, and presence became an important touchstone in the development of The Shape of Human Experience collection.

I am fascinated by those moments when we feel most alive.

The Shape of Human Experience began with moments of joy, freedom, wonder, and connection. As the collection has grown, so has my understanding of what it can hold. Being human is more complicated than that. There is also strength and vulnerability, surrender and uncertainty, love and loss—and emotions that aren't always easy to name.

The figures in these paintings float, plunge, leap, emerge, and sometimes begin to disappear. Water often gives me permission to distort reality, but increasingly I am pushing that idea beyond the water itself—fragmenting figures, disrupting backgrounds, and exploring how much I can take away while still leaving something for the viewer to find.

The collection continues to evolve as I do.
